Synod of Southern California and HawaiiA Letter from the Rev. Darrell Myers
|
| Dear Co-Workers in Christ:
At Chapman University, in Orange, July 15-19, we'll explore the theme, "Sowing Mustard Seeds: Working for God's Justice -- Confronting Poverty," a timely and indeed urgent call for engagement by Christ's disciples. National and international speakers, music, worship, and creative artists, a wide range of stimulating workshops, plus a host of interesting visiting and local intergenerational conferees make this a memorable investment of time (even, a 'study leave'!). Your presbytery will have from the Synod up to $2000 for individual scholarships of $265 to cover the Conference's registration fee. Applications should be made to your presbytery's peacemaking committee (or equivalent). Or you may make it through Sue Davenport, a member of Synod's "Peace, Justice, and the Integrity of Creation" Work Group. Sue may be reached at 818/813-7888; e-mail. This scholarship aid is made possible through funds apportioned to the Synod, collected from the annual Peacemaking Offerings given from congregations of our Church. But it's first come, first served -- so get the word out right away, please. Futher information about the Conference is found at PEACEMAKING CONFERENCE INFORMATION or
May the wind -- and even the fire! -- of the Spirit use this Conference In and for the Peace of Christ, Rev. Darrel Meyers |

Note: For those who cannot attend the entire conference a One-Day Commuter plan is available. The one-day registration fee of $50 does not include meals or housing, but includes full participation in the day's events A leaflet (prepared by the Synod Website Staff) is available to download that details each day so participants can choose the day that interests them the most. There is a page in this flyer that promotes the entire conference; a church might want to include this page in an upcoming Sunday bulletin. |
